What to Wear

When choosing what to wear for your portrait there are a few simple guidelines I recommend.

  • Think about the reason for your portrait. Choose clothing which portray the message you are aiming to send.

  • Choose plain coloured clothing. Patterns, pictures and large logo’s will distract the focus from the face and date quickly.

  • When part of a group, select clothing and colours which complement all the members. No individual person should dominate the portrait.

  • If you are feeling subconscious, dark coloured clothing can be slimming.

Grooming

Paying attention to the small details can help you achieve a great portrait.

  • Please ensure your clothing is clean and ironed.

  • Hair should be clean and neatly styled.

  • If you intend to wear makeup, applying it shortly before your session will ensure it looks fresh in your portrait.

  • For men, please shave or trim your facial hair the morning of your session.

  • Keep nails manicured and, if wearing polish, ensure they are not chipped.

  • Get a good nights sleep beforehand and stay hydrated.
